DESCRIPTION:‘Sponsor’ A Share of Veggies or Soup this Year!\nHeart & Soil Collective is a Berkshire County nonprofit that feeds people\, supports farms\, and connects the community through agriculture. Since 2021 we have paid farmers $60\,830\, delivered 3\,529 bags of free veggies and 600 gallons of soup directly to seniors and families. \n  \nThe need for access to fresh food is growing across the Berkshires\, and so are we! \n  \nOur Community Produce & Soup Programs serve seniors\, families and small farms across Berkshire County:\n\nWe deliver free\, fresh produce purchased from local farms and soups made with local ingredients directly to homes across the Berkshires.\nWe pay partner farms full price for produce \, because farmers need to be paid.\nWe deliver to seniors through partnerships with Councils on Aging.\nCollaboration with seeing rainbows allows us to provide free\, local food to members of the trans community.\nThrough Pediatric Palliative Care of Hospice Care in the Berkshires we provide free\, fresh produce and soup to families receiving their services.\n\n  \nEvery $100 raised covers an individual share for one month\n$300 pays for an individual veggie share for twelve weeks\n$600 provides free\, fresh produce to a family for twelve weeks\n  \n  \nDonations can be made online through our campaign ( https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/52gtZ4 ) or by visiting: www.heartandsoil.org/donate \n  \n Check donations can be mailed to: \nHeart & Soil Collective \nPO Box 619 \nLanesborough\, MA 01237 \n  \nThank you for choosing to be part of paying farmers & feeding your neighbors this year. (Registration link coming soon)\n\n\nIn  June we will be joined by Chef James Burden\, who will show us creative ways to cook a delicious meal using whole chickens from Square Roots Farm\, fresh and local spring veggies and ingredients that can typically be found in the pantry.\n\n\nA note from Chef Burden: “The June class focuses on whole animal utilization\, seasonal ingredients\, pantry staples\, and root cellar vegetables. This year in partnership with Berkshire Community College we are launching a series of cooking classes to help connect the community to the land where their food is growing\, provide hands-on tips for cooking with local ingredients and opportunities to enjoy fresh\, local food together. Register HERE\n\n\n\nFor this class we will be joined by Chef Lucy Grignon\, co-founder of AncestralRebel where she and Chef Farah Momen are working to transform meals into movements. Lucy Grignon is an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Nation and a direct descendant of the Menominee Nation\, Muh-he-con-ne-ok being of the People of the Waters that are never still\, and Menominee being of the Ancient movers.\nHer work centers Indigenous foodways\, cultural revitalization\, community education\, storytelling\, and relational approaches to land stewardship and healing. \nA community-taught chef\, educator\, artist\, photographer\, writer\, and advocate\, Grignon brings an interdisciplinary and deeply place based approach to cultural practice rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems\, collective care\, and\nintergenerational learning. \nHer family owns an Indigenous Homestead called Ancient Roots in Bowler\, Wisconsin\, where they research traditional gardening practices from their Ancestors\ndating back from ages ago to present day. They use a combination of ancestral methods to learn\, preserve\, grow\, seed save\, reconnect\, and share. \nGrignon is the co-creator of AncestralRebel\, a collaborative public humanities and culinary initiative that bridges Indigenous and South Asian food traditions\, histories\, and storytelling practices. Through feasts\, workshops\, talks\, and participatory\ngatherings\, AncestralRebel explores how food\, kinship\, migration\, and shared cultural practice can function as tools for decolonial dialogue\, community-building\, and cultural memory. \nHer approach to food\, education\, and writing\, is inspired by her Ancestors\, long line of lineage\, Community\, and learning from observing her older than human relatives. \n\nLucy will be showing us how to prepare an Indigenous pickling recipe using fresh\, locally grown carrots from Full Well Farm- yum!\n\n\n\n\n\nGrant support through Grassroots Fund\, United Way and Pittsfield Cultural Council/ Mass Cultural Council is making this series possible.
